Give proof of strength and strike a dreadful blow,
When war is waging strains of harp forego.

ख़ून-ए-दिलो जिगर है सरमाया-ए-हयात
फ़ितरत 'लहू तरंग' है ग़ाफ़िल ! न 'जल-तरंग'
The wealth of life is due to blood in veins,
O man remiss! love pain, shun melodious strains.
